out of where nothing stood ...

For the New Year

Now work: write, and make something
out of where nothing stood, or read, so that
pictures come forward, or what is still more difficult—
love, and then the nothingness makes no sound as it goes,
and the tree on the white ground begins a new branch,
though the axe and the winter considered it felled.
