✨ Portrait of a Reader: Bethany R.
Espresso. Cloud-watching. Kite flying. Meet a fellow Every Day Poems reader!
As part of our 12th birthday celebration this year, we asked readers to share about themselves and their experiences with Every Day Poems.
Bethany R. has joined in and shared some whimsical things we hope you’ll enjoy!
About Bethany
Reader Bethany R. has been with our Every Day Poems community for 8 1/2 years. She adores writing, cloud-watching, volunteering, and perusing local museums. And she aspires to fly a kite this year!
Geography
Bethany lives between her trusty journal and espresso machine, in the Pacific Northwest. When spring arrives, she looks forward to watching the daffodils begin to open, especially the kind with apricot centers.
Every Day Poems Reading Ritual
Says Bethany, “I like to read Every Day Poems during morning’s second wave of activities. (During the first wave, I’m still too sleepy to comprehend prose, let alone poetry.)” After pouring herself a cozy mug of coffee and settling in for a poem, she sometimes shares a favorite part of the day’s offering and, she says, “I love to read what others thought of the poem.”
Tea or Coffee?
A smooth (mostly-decaf) Americano with oat milk.
Cake
Angel food (especially while still warm and upside down).
Birthday Greeting to Every Day Poems
“Happy birthday, Every Day Poems! Thank you for consistently offering us thoughtful, layered, moving poetry and images!”
Quote from Every Day Poems to Send to Herself on Her Own Birthday
“Little corners like this, pieces of
Heaven left lying around, can be picked up and saved.
People won’t even see that you have them,
they are so light and easy to hide.”
—William Stafford’s, “Any Morning”
.
Thank you, Bethany, for sharing with the community! :)

Those Stafford lines! And to have them delivered by a smart and sunny and kind-hearted person like yourself is perfect as the weekend opens (along with coffee)! Raising a cup to you Bethany, from across the mountains. Thank you!
I love, love, love that quote. And those daffodils remind me of always cheery yet gentle Bethany.
