I led our group in a poetry writing based on a picture prompt of a sunflower captured one July day when my garden of sunflowers where "showing out", as my grandmother used to say. Here is my sunflower poem:
"Showing out." What a wonderful way to describe the flowers' best blooming! Sunflowers really do follow the command of the sun, don't they? It's remarkable. (Very fun that you led your group in a sunflower poetry writing prompt! :)

Army of Gold
There it is, an army of gold
Faces bowing allegiance
To the sun, their source.
Following in obedience
They shift as the sun
Changes position.
Soldiers in the Army of Nature
At attention and poised,
Ready to move
With their Captain Sun.
As evening closes in
The soldiers rest
Their weary heads,
Hang them in quiet repose.
"Showing out." What a wonderful way to describe the flowers' best blooming! Sunflowers really do follow the command of the sun, don't they? It's remarkable. (Very fun that you led your group in a sunflower poetry writing prompt! :)
