I was inspired by this poem to write a Haiku.

Brush stroke of amber

Colors the trees; leaves let go.

Blanket covers the ground.

I was also inspired to resurrect this "bouncy"sonnet that I wrote some time ago when it seemed as if autumn caught me off guard. In fact, I titled it "Caught Unaware".

When autumn creeps in on silent feet

And takes me by surprise,

I find solace in how discreet

The change is before my eyes.

I revel in the beauty set before me

Upon a canvas of color,

And wish that all could see

The change that occurs from summer.

Although it happens every year

I seem to be caught unaware

When the leaf changes appear -

“Autumn has arrived!” I declare.
