I cannot begin to tell you how meaningful your words are for me today. I awakened crying from a nightmare engendered by the happenings of the past week. I have two workshops to lead today, a book to launch, etc. etc Thank you for another way of imaging how to carry on.
The part that was not shared, about that poem, was how it got me (L.L.) through a childhood with a stepfather scarred by participation in WWII. Long after his death, my mother realized he was probably also bi-polar, in addition to having PTSD. So, a very hard situation indeed. Today, I've come to think of my stepfather a little more like that meteor that you cannot really put your arms around, but the average person is not a meteor, but rather someone who really can respond to the loving-circle-drawn-round. I need to write more about this somewhere, obviously, than a comment box. Too much to say. :) (Meteor, here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCFPHzjyC3M/ )
I love this so much. I can’t believe it’s been 15 years. I’ve had a Best Loved Poems since I can’t remember when. I’d run to the shelf to check the edition if I wasn’t languishing away in Key West. (Today we are going to a botanical garden after my husband gets out of a meeting.) Also, I miss those Twitter parties. And also… you are my writing/poeming/all-arounding angel.
❤️❤️❤️

This is dear.
You, too, are a poem angel. :)
Aww, thank you! <3 This made me a little teary.
A welcoming circle - beautiful image.
Yes. So beautiful, agreed!
And it all started with a warm circle of poetry reading on the couch each morning. One mom, two daughters, and a book of poetry. :)

Oh, Donna. Big hug. (A little circle of its own. :)
Thank you.
❤️
Sending you wishes for gentle moments of reprieve in the midst of all that is swirling, Donna.
It is wonderful to know that we can draw our circle a bit wider than some of us might have imagined.
Yes.

This piece is so poignant and made my eyes all dewy. How words bring friends together and how friends bring words together….
❤️
Poignant, powerful, precious, poetic.
May the love and poetry,
lines and poems,
go on and on.
What a blessing it is to read the thoughts, words, and deeds in this loving space.
Hugs to you L.L., Maureen, Laurie and all the other poem angels who share of themselves and bring such light and life and joy to all of us:)
